We have begun a maintenance project on the water storage tank located in Standish so it will be out of service for three weeks. Not only do water storage tanks provide an emergency water supply; they also are critical in maintaining water pressure in the system and for public safety (firefighting). With the tank offline, the Standish distribution system (540 pressure zone) has been connected to the North Windham system (510 pressure zone). Because the Windham system is 30’ feet lower than Standish, we’ve had to design a creative solution to maintain proper water pressure in the Standish distribution system. Any issues with the North Windham pump system, even momentarily, can cause pressure issues in the Standish system.
